He was born in Wake County on January 22, 1955 to the late Howard Herman and the late Betty Jean Herman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Chris Herman and a granddaughter, Hannah Herman.
He is survived by a daughter, Brandy Chalk; a son, Jason Lane; 5 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and 4 sisters, Betty Sue Herman, Elizabeth Faye Morris, Diane Gale Wright and Angela Marie Harris; 5 nieces, 1 nephew, 1 great niece and 2great nephews.
