

Robert Thomas Reder Jr., age 81, passed away on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at The Laurels of Glenn in Garner, North Carolina. Born in Patterson, New Jersey, on March 20, 1944, he was a son to the late Robert Thomas Reder Sr. and Matilda Brunner Reder.
Robert graduated from Pequannock Township High School, in Pompton Plains, New Jersey. He served his country in the United States Airforce at Whiteman Air Force base in Missouri. He then proudly served on the police department in Lincoln Park, New Jersey, later moving to the Morris County Sheriff's Office in Morristown, New Jersey. Robert was very passionate about canine handling and created the K/9 unit, training of search and rescue dogs, drugs sniffing dogs, bomb dogs, attack dogs and more. He retired from the Sheriff's department as a Sergeant and then became an undercover agent with the Humane Society of the United States. Robert received many awards and accomplishments during his career and was very respected by his colleagues and all who knew him.
Robert had a real love for animals and rescued many himself. Specifically, his favorite breed, the Rottweiler.
One of Robert’s biggest passions was riding motorcycles. He was a member of many groups, Blue Knights, Patriot Guards and Combat Vets. Robert loved meeting people and cherished all his friends.
A funeral service will be held in the chapel of McLaurin Funeral Home at 3:00pm on Thursday, October 23, 2025. The family will receive friends from 2:00pm-3:00pm, just prior to the service.
Robert is survived by his children, Terri Parker (Jeff), and Mark Reder; grandchildren, Kevin Daniels (Nichole), Brandon Reder, and Tyler Reder; and great grandchildren, Jackson, Liam, and Benjamin Daniels.
