Sarah Landry Gillespy

Sarah Armstrong Landry Dailey Gillespy passed peacefully to spend eternity in Heaven with her Lord and Savior at the age of 61 on March 5, 2016. Sally, as her family and friends knew her, dedicated her life to serving the Lord. She loved her family, friends, and animals and enjoyed Christ’s manifested love through several hobbies. Sally grew up in a family of four kids. Her mother always had wonderful activities for the children especially during the holidays and birthdays. Sally’s mother and father always taught God came first and then family second and work came last.

At the age of 27, and again at 30, Sally became a mother and immediately fell in love with a new chapter of her life. She served in her church and as a mentor. Her career centered on enhancing the knowledge of youth for several decades.

Through support groups she made countless friends and touched the lives of many. Even a sudden diagnosis of a terminal illness could not shake her faith. Family and friends will be forever grateful for her presence in their lives.

She was preceded in death by her father, Patrick G. Landry, Sr., her mother, Sarah Landry Fiske, her brother, Patrick G. Landry, Jr., her sister, Mary Foust Landry, and second husband, Robert Gillespy.

Sally leaves her brother, John R. Landry and wife Shirley, daughters, Amber Menin and Allison Dailey, father of her children, Thomas Dailey, grandchildren, Andrew Menin and Alexandra Menin, Robert’s children, Elizabeth Annis, Paul Gillespy, Alisha Gillespy, and Brian Gillespy, and Robert’s grandchildren, Sabrina Gillespy, Brandon Gillespy, and Gavin Annis.

A funeral service will be held Monday, March 7, 2016 at 1:30 P.M. in the McLaurin Funeral Home chapel in Clayton. The family will receive friends Monday from 12:00 – 1:30 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Park. The family asks that in lieu of flowers please make donations to the American Cancer Society and the local Humane Society.
