She was born to the late Clarence and Thelma Moore, January 25, 1940, in Wilson’s Mills, NC. She graduated from Wilson’s Mills High School in 1958. Following graduation, she married David B. Allen on July 27, 1958. He was the love of her life. They made their home in the Clayton/Garner area and were married for nearly 64 years. Jean is survived by her husband, David, and three children: Ron (Janice) Allen, of Charlotte, NC; Don (Lorie) Allen of Greenville, SC; and Donna (Joe) Reddy of Atlanta, GA. She is also survived by ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents as well as her two brothers, Jessie Moore and Jimmy Moore, both of Fayetteville, NC.
Jean spent her working career in patient administration at both Wake Medical Center and Rex Hospital. Whether at work, at church, or at home, she was best known for her love of life and her love for people. She was a tender-hearted soul who genuinely loved people. She always took an interest in others and never missed an opportunity for a good conversation. She particularly adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The most important aspect of Jean’s 82 years of life is that, as a child, she came to faith in Jesus Christ. Though she will be sorely missed by her family and friends, we rejoice that she is with her Savior and has been made completely whole.
Services to celebrate her life will be held on Friday, March 25, 2022 at 2:00pm in the chapel of McLaurin Funeral Home with the burial following at Pinecrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services starting at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association/ American Stroke Association PO Box 840692 Dallas, TX 75284-0692.
