Sudie Easterling Gower

A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on June 17, 2024 at 5 PM at Broken Wing Fellowship Church in Garner, NC.

She was born in Bennettsville, SC on July 16, 1942 to the late Redin Gresham Pittman and Willie Elma McKay Brewer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Thomas Gower; “mother” aunts, Islay Catherine Pittman and Margaret Louis Pittman; and brothers, Joel P. Easterling, James W. Easterling, and Redin George Pittman.

After attending East Carolina University, she established a successful career in the insurance agency as an Account Executive.

Sudie, a dedicated mother and beloved grandmother, found her greatest joy in time spent with her family. Sudie adored her granddaughters beyond measure and embraced every opportunity to shower them in love and affection. From preparing their favorite meals to cheering enthusiastically at their sporting events, she cherished every moment spent with them. She delighted in pampering them with outings for mani/pedis and creating lasting memories that will be cherished forever.

A devout member of Broken Wing Fellowship Church in Garner, NC, Sudie found solace and community in her faith, embodying its principles of kindness and generosity throughout her life. This compassion extended to creatures great and small. Her home was a sanctuary for numerous dogs and cats over the years. She never hesitated to lend a helping hand to any animal in need, ensuring they were never hungry and were always treated with love.

She found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She had a profound love for reading, which fueled her imagination and enriched her spirit. Her talent for sewing allowed her to create cherished pieces that reflected her creativity and attention to detail.

Sudie will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of love, kindness, and selflessness will continue to inspire those whose lives she touched. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of her loved ones as they carry forward her spirit of compassion and joy.

She is survived by her daughter, Amy Katherine Johnson; grandchildren, Kendall Jade Cartonia and Finleigh Grace Johnson; sister-in-laws, Susie (Gary) Bunn and Pamela Pittman; brother-in-law Ronald Gower; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and many dear friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Sudie’s honor to NC Boxer Rescue.
