Gail Smith O’Neil, 69, passed away Tuesday October 6, 2015. A memorial service will be held 1:00 Saturday in the chapel of McLaurin Funeral Home. A graduate of the University of North Carolina with a degree in dental hygiene and a Bachelors of Art degree in graphic design from Barton College. Mrs. O’Neil had a love for art, having sketched many land marks around the community. She also enjoyed painting portraits, various flowers and the beauty she saw in the world. She loved working in her yard as well as just relaxing at the lake with her family. She is survived by her husband, Billy O’Neil, a daughter, Bonnie Mayo and husband Randy, son, Eric O’Neil and his wife Kim, brother, George Smith and wife Janice, grandchildren, Parker Mayo, Kendell Mayo, Reghan Mayo and Tristan O’Neil, nephew, Tim Smith and wife Lisa. While flowers are accepted memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice. The family will receive friends Saturday from 11:30 – 12:30 at McLaurin Funeral Home.
