Thelma Wilson Bullock, 95, passed away peacefully at her home on January 27, 2023, with her loving and devoted son, Tony, by her side. It was Thelma’s final wish to be at home when she left this earthly life to enter into her eternal life with her Heavenly Father.
She was a native of North Carolina and lived most of her life on the family farm in Wake County. Thelma was born on March 26, 1927, to Arthur and Ethel Wilson and was one of seven children. She was a farmer’s wife and was married to her husband, Howard, for 60 years. Alongside of her husband, she raised seven beloved children while tending to the home, tobacco crops, livestock, and all the essential needs that come with living on a farm. Thelma was also a gifted quilt maker. She made and sold many beautiful handmade quilts over the years.
Thelma is preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Ethel Wilson; husband, Howard Bullock; three children, Nancy Faye Bullock, Howard Wayne Bullock, and Howard Brent Bullock; and four siblings, Francis Giles, Ruth Young, Curtis Wilson, and Danny Wilson.
She is survived by her children, Kathie Conner (Jerry) of Lumberton, NC, Polly Baker of Raleigh, NC, Tammie Houck (Tim) of Garner, NC, and Tony Bullock (Sharon) of Angier, NC; sisters Peggy Jones and Diania Harmon, both of Fuquay-Varina, NC; nine grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and two great, great grandchildren.
A funeral service for Mrs. Bullock will be held Thursday, February 2, 2023 at 1:00 PM in the chapel of McLaurin Funeral Home, Clayton, North Carolina with Pastor Steve Moore officiating. Thelma’s final resting place will be at the Kennebec Baptist Church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 1:00 pm at the funeral home, prior to the service.
