THELMA LOUISE TIPTON COWHER July 10, 1921 – March 2, 2015 CLAYTON: Thelma Lousie Tipton Cowher, age 93, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 02, 2015 at Brian Center of Clayton. A memorial service will be held 3:00 PM Friday, March 6, 2015 in the chapel of McLaurin Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Roy officiating. She was a native of Erwin, TN and a daughter of the late Alvin Tipton and the late Bessie Lee Dillinger Tipton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Terry Johnathan Cowher and a sister, Kathleen McNabb. She is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Clyde Maybee of Clayton; a brother and sister-in-law, John and Ruth Tipton of Abingdon, MD. Her life was also blessed by the love and devotion of numerous nieces and nephews. Thelma was blessed by her deep faith in God and by her close friends in churches in Orlando, FL, Cleveland, TN and Clayton, NC. She enjoyed going to nursing homes to visit with the elderly members of her church. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM prior to the service at the funeral home. The family would like to thank the staffs of Meadowview Assisted Living, Johnston Medical Center and Brian Center for the loving care given to Thelma.
