At the age of 11, Tina’s family had immigrated first to Winnipeg, Canada and then to the United States where they stayed. Tina was the 2nd oldest sibling to 5 brothers and 2 sisters.
Tina studied nursing at the Oak Forest Hospital School of Nursing where she became a licensed practical nurse. She worked as a school nurse and then for years after raising her family, worked as a geriatric nurse where she was loved by her patients and coworkers. Tina was married to the late John Pit who had also immigrated from the Netherlands. Together they had 3 children; Randy Pit, Michael Pit (Niki), Pamela Brown (Brandon) and 7 grandchildren; Jonah, Jared, Nora, Sarah, Drew, Trevor and Avery.
Tina and her husband were avid travelers and saw as much of the world as they could. Together they moved across the country several times for John’s work. Tina managed to set up house and adapt wherever they landed. Tina was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother who adored her family. She was an amazing and fun loving sister and a sweet Aunt to many.
Tina was taken from us suddenly on Sunday, October 8, 2023. She will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends that loved her so very much.
A memorial service will be held for Tina at McLaurin Funeral Home, Clayton NC at 2:00 pm on Tuesday October 17, 2023.
