

Victor Sczepanski, age 82, passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2024. “Ski” was born in Lyndhurst, NJ on November 10, 1941, to the late Benjamin and Lucy Mazurkiewicz Sczepanski. After graduating from high school “Ski” enlisted in the US Air Force and served for over 27 years before retiring as a Chief Master Sergeant. “Chief Ski” was the youngest flight engineer in a C130 and taught in a c130 flight simulator as a civilian after military service for 20 additional years before retiring. In addition to serving in the Vietnam War, his military career took him all over the world including Japan, Africa, Korea, and England. He was a member of Saint Stephen’s the First Martyr Catholic Church in Sanford for 20 years and also served as the treasurer for the Veterans Legacy Foundation for many years.
He is survived by his wife of 58 plus years, Peggy Dix Sczepanski; son, David Sczepanski and his wife, Lecia of Selma; daughter, Vicki Ruiz and her husband, Manny of Clayton; his grandchildren who were his pride and joy, Kaitlyn S. DeSimone and her husband, Michael, Alec Sczepanski, Stephen Ruiz, Stephanie Ruiz and Sean Ruiz; great grandchild, Francesca Cameryn DeSimone.
In addition to his parents, “Ski” is also preceded in death by his sister, Bernadine Rush and a brother, Paul Sczepanski.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, March 22, 2024 from 6:00 until 8:00pm at McLaurin Funeral Home 12830 US 70 Bus Hwy W Clayton, NC. A memorial mass will be held at Saint Stephen’s the First Martyr Catholic Church (901 N Franklin Dr, Sanford, NC 27330) on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at 10:30am.
