Wayne Henry Ellington

Wayne Henry Ellington, age 74, passed away on Monday, May 5, 2025, at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield. Born on July 18, 1950, in Wake County, he was a son to the late Monroe Ellington and Helen Jones of Raleigh.

Wayne was a long-time member of the former Mount Pleasant Advent Christian Church. Wayne served as a Board of Director for the Cleveland Fire Department for 23 years.

He enjoyed fishing, especially with his grandson Parker, and cherished the time he spent at the hunting club with his son, grandson, and the boys.

Wayne is most remembered for the smile on his face and the kind words be blessed all he came in contact with.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at 12:00pm in the chapel of McLaurin Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 11:00am-12:00pm just prior to the service. Burial will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Park.

In addition to his parents, Wayne is preceded in death by his brother, Mark Wall.

Wayne is survived by his wife, Rita Ellington; daughter, LaDonna Ellington; son, Chris Ellington and wife Tasha, and grandson, Parker Ellington, all of Clayton.
