“Little Joe” to his siblings and “Grandaddy “to all his children, went home to meet Jesus Saturday, November 26, 2022, at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Clayton with his family by his side.
Joe was born November 9, 1944, in Smithfield, NC to Tilbo Radford and Lillian Gilmore Radford. Joe loved to ride around fast with his friends and brothers on hot rods.
In 1994, Joe got his license with HVAC and started his business Radford Heating & Air. He then worked for Bayer/Talecris where he worked for 32 years and retired. Joe loved to work hard and never gave up working until his body told him he needed to rest in 2019.
He became an active member at Everette’s Chapel church in 1968 and sang in the choir. He also volunteered for the Prison Ministry. Joe loved more than anything to provide and give to his family. Taking them on many vacations, making memories and spoiling all his grandchildren were his favorite things to do.
Joe met the love of his life Linda, and they married in 1965. The two were each other’s lifelong companions and friends. They had been married for 57 years when Joe passed. They were blessed with two children: Pam and Greg.
Joe is survived by his wife Linda; His two children Pam Dean, and Greg Smith (Faye); Three grandchildren, Tony Dean (Alicia), Chris Dean (Ashley), Nikki Anson (David); Ten Great- grandchildren, Tyler Dean (Hailey), Kaila Deans (Phillip), Britt Dean (Jordie), Jacob Dean, Leah Dean, Dylan Dean, Jordan Dean, Devon Dean, Gunner Anson, and Gatlin Anson.; Nine Great-great grandchildren, Izzy, Keileigh, AJ, Easton, Brantley, Cade, Maddie, Journie, and Chandler; His brothers & sisters Rachel Talton, Albert Radford (Ellen) , Tilboa “Jukey” Radford, Susie Allen (Dennis), Phil Radford (Laura).
He was proceeded in death by his parents Tilbo & Lillian; His siblings Ken and Becky, his son-in-law Buddy, and his brother-in-law Billy Talton.
Joe especially will be remembered for his work ethic and how big his heart was.
