William Raeford Underwood

Raeford Underwood, 79, passed away Tuesday. Funeral services will be held 11:00 Friday at McLaurin Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jim Turner officiating. He was a member of North Clayton Christian Church, which is now Mt. Calvary Baptist Church and served as a deacon for many years. In 1960 he started serving as the sound engineer, a position he held until his death. His passion of music help organize the Gospel Melody Boys Quartet in 1955 of which he was member and manager. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sue A. Underwood, son; Steve Underwood and his wife Lisa, sisters; Ann Haddock and Gladys Spence, grandchildren; Karen Berry and Chris Underwood, great grandchildren; Maya and Nolan Underwood. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Earl and Thelma Hoggard Underwood, brother, Printice Underwood and a sister, Lib Moore. While flowers are accepted, memorial contributions may also be made to: Mt.
