Yiqiang “Peter” Pan, 59, of Clayton, North Carolina, passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, after a courageous battle with Stage 4 Colon Cancer. Born December 29, 1966, in Shanghai, China, he initially worked as an electronics repair technician at a university in China. In 1996, at age 29, he immigrated to the United States, where he worked in the restaurant industry—as a waiter, busboy, and delivery driver—before dedicating over a decade to his work as a nail technician. It was a steady career that supported his family, but his true passion was small engine repair, a craft he pursued both as a hobby and a business.
Yiqiang was a man of selfless service, always putting others first—within his household and for neighbors and friends alike. Known for his loyalty, kindness, and deep patriotism, he found Christ later in life, being baptized on June 8, 2025, at Hocutt Baptist Church in Clayton, where his faith guided him. His sons, Bill Q. Lu and George Q. Pan, both serve as Infantry Officers in the United States Army, and he was their greatest champion, always proud of their service. He was married to his beloved wife, Huaping "Kim" Lu, for 33 years, since their marriage on May 11, 1993, a union built on love, devotion, and partnership.
His hobbies were many: he loved soccer, music, fishing, DIY projects, and especially spending time with family. He adored the beach, and Carolina Beach was both the first beach he ever visited and a place he always cherished. He was also passionate about politics and the arts, always engaging in thoughtful discussions and encouraging others.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Hocutt Baptist Church in Clayton, North Carolina, followed immediately by a funeral service celebrating Yiqiang’s life at 11:00 AM.
He is survived by his wife, Huaping "Kim" Lu, and his sons, Bill Q. Lu and George Q. Pan, all of Clayton, North Carolina. Clayton will always be home, and Yiqiang’s legacy of love, service, and passion will endure.
