Our Lord called his faithful servant Gloria home on Sept. 19th 2016. Celebrating her arrival were her mother Della, father Roy, her husband Cliff, brothers Sonny and wife Patty and Terry, and her precious daughter Cindy.
Gloria was born on Feb. 6th 1928 to Ray and Della Reed in Easton WA. The births of her two younger brothers Sonny and Terry would complete the family. She attended and graduated from what was then called the Roslyn-Easton Consolidated Public High School in 1946 as valedictorian.
Before long Gloria was swept off her feet by a young man from Roslyn named Cliff Maggs. The romance blossomed and they were married on March 15th 1947. Within 9 years they were a family of five with the births of Tip, Vance, and Cindy.
Gloria was employed by the Easton School District for 23 years as the Business Secretary. For the students she was the Band-Aid distributor, the shoulder to lean on, the ear that would listen without casting judgement, someone to cry with and someone to laugh with. She loved the students and valued the friendships of her co-workers.
The family would eventually grow with the addition of daughter-in-law Renee (Tip) and 4 grandchildren, Vanessa and Alynna (Vance) and Nolan and Landon (Tip & Renee). As the years went by the family continued to increase with spouses Gannon (Vanessa) and Ryan (Alynna) and 3 great grandchildren Jake & Grayce (Vanessa & Gannon) and Trey (Alynna & Ryan). Gloria loved her family unconditionally and always saw the best in every one. Holidays and family gatherings were very important to her and her traditions will live on.
Gloria’s faith ran very deep. She lived to serve the Lord every day of her life. Gloria was a very devoted member of the Church of the Nazarene. While being involved in many aspects of the church, she would be remembered for her selfless giving of herself top anyone who was in need of anything she could provide.
Gloria loved life. She had a great appreciated for nature, a good cup of coffee, a fresh slice of bread, anything with chocolate, stamp collecting, shopping, and going for car rides anywhere.
Alzheimer’s creeped into Gloria’s life about 16 years ago. It may have robbed her of her memory, but it did not take her kind demeanor or her beautiful smile. We thank God for the gift of Gloria in our lives. A memorial service will be held Oct. 1st 2016 @ 11:30 A.M. @ the Cle Elum Community Church with a reception following.
