James served in the U.S. Navy. He was a retired pipe fitter and brick mason.
He is survived by his wife, Rosemary Minton of Cle Elum and his sons, Ryan of Cle Elum, Randy of Selah, Roger of Auburn and Rodney of Ellensburg; 5 grandchildren; and his sisters, Donna Edmondson of Georgia, Karen of Kent and Sharon of Alabama.
No service is planned at this time. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Cascade Funeral Home of Cle Elum.
