Caroline Elizabeth Stevens

Born on February 19, 1921 in Clearfield, she was the daughter of Martin Watts and Roxella "Roxie" (Charlton) Stevens.

A 1938 graduate of Clearfield High School, Ms. Stevens graduated in 1942 from the Clearfield Hospital School of Nursing. Following graduation, she worked in the city hospital in Akron,OH. She later came back to the Clearfield area and did private duty nursing at the Clearfield Hospital. Ms. Stevens had worked for the Clearfield Easter Seal Society Clinic and also in the office of Dr. Thomas Bell for four years. She later worked as a clerk in the Clearfield County Jury Commisioners Office for over fifty years.

Ms. Stevens was a life member of the Clearfield Hsopital Nurses Alumni Association, R.S.V.P. and A.A.R.P. She was also a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Clearfield, PA.

Ms. Stevens is survived by a nephew, Edward Stevens and his wife Pam of Harrisburg, PA and a great-nephew, Alex Stevens of Harrisburg, PA.

She is the last surviving member of her generation, having been preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Frank Stevens, Lawrence Stevens and his wife Emogean (Kritzer) Stevens and an infant nephew.

Funeral services will be held at the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home, Inc., 312 E. Locust Street, Clearfield, PA on Sunday, January 9, 2011 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Dr. Robert Rupp officiating. Interment will be in the Mahaffey Cemetery in Mahaffey, PA.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Sunday from 1:00 PM until the hour of services.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church, 121 S. Second Street, Clearfield, PA 16830 or to the Clearfield Hospital Nurses' Alumni Scholarship Fund.
