Carolyn Joanne Viard Royer

She was born September 30, 1937, and was the eldest daughter of Thomas ‘Pete’ and Agatha ‘Bobby’ (Plubell) Viard. Carolyn graduated from Clearfield High School in 1955 and from the Philipsburg State General Hospital School of Nursing in 1958. She worked as an RN Supervisor at Mountain Laurel Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center for 14 years and as a corporate facility nurse for many years prior to that.

Carolyn was a life-long member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Frenchville. She also was President of the Church’s Altar Rosary Society for many years and a charter member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Leigey Renaud Post 8386 Auxiliary.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband, Henry B. Royer, whom she was married to for 58 years. She had six daughters, Susanne (Dean) English of Middletown, Jean (Jim) Peake, of Linglestown, Nancy (J. Tim) Hoover of Erie, Mary Kay Royer of Frenchville, Melanie Royer of Frenchville, and Nicole (Todd) Fedder of Frenchville; eleven grandchildren--Melinda Smalley, Amanda Peters, Michael English, Jennifer Miller, Jamison Peake, Jordan Peake, Ashley (Hoover) Bailey, Ian Hoover, Justin Fedder, Austin Fedder, Allison Fedder; ten great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and sisters, Montrue Fletcher of Mechanicsburg, Linda (Cortland) Dalton of Florida, and brothers Charles (Josephine) Viard of Curwensville and Lee (Rina) Viard of Williamsport.

She was proceeded in death by her parents and her sister, Carol Jo (Tom) Krolick of Clearfield.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Frenchville, on Saturday, October 24 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Samuel Bungo as celebrant. Internment will follow in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Frenchville.

Friends will be received at the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home on Friday, October 23 from 4-8 PM and at the Church on Saturday, October 24 from 10-11 AM. The Rosary will be recited at 7:45 PM on Friday evening at the funeral home.
