

Born April 4, 1940, in Quincy, IL, the only child of Robert E. and Grace A. (Appleby) Lauver.
He was a graduate of Central Cambria High School, Class of 1958. He enlisted in the USMC and immediately after graduation departed to Paris Island, SC to Marine basic training, graduating in 1959. He served in the United States Marines Reserves during the Vietnam Era.
Following basic training he had been employed as a heavy equipment operator for the family mining business, C.E. Lauver and Sons Coal Co. Ebensburg, PA for several years. He had also been employed as an Ohio State Highway Patrol Officer having been wounded in the line of duty and was the recipient of two O.W. Merrill awards for acts of heroism. After 22 years Chuck retired from the United States Department of Labor, Mine Safety and Health as a federal mine inspector.
In 1960 he married Carolyn K. Gopp and with that union four children: Robert E. Lauver (Grace) of Cherokee, NC, Sherry L. Bishop (James) of Woodland, Mary Ann Schreiber (Glenn) of Dayton, IA and Kathleen K. Clark (Ralph) of Ashtabula, OH. Carolyn passed away December 15, 1998.
On January 22, 2000, he married Arvena B. (Taylor) Thompson who survives with his extended family of six stepchildren: Ruth A. Wortylko (Alan) of Gallatin, TN, James A. Thompson (Carla) of Abilene, TX, Jeanette L. Goliszewski (Patrick) of Blackwood, NJ, Amy J. Kline (Justin) of Youngstown, OH, Lee B. Thompson of Marysville, OH and Linda M. Thompson of Amarillo, TX.
Also surviving are six grandchildren, sixteen step grandchildren and thirty great grandchildren.
He was the last member of his generation having been preceded in death by his parents, his first wife and three grandchildren.
Chuck was an avid reader, collector of books and history buff, especially WWII.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Curwensville where he served as a trustee.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Curwensville First Baptist Church on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at 11:00 AM with Rev. Daniel M. Osterhout. Military will be accorded at the church by the Clearfield Honor Guard.
Friends will be received at the church on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the hour of services.
