Christy Lynn States

Born on June 5, 1976, in Clearfield, she was the daughter of Randy and Alyce Smeal.

Christy graduated from Clearfield Area High School, Class of 1994. She continued her education receiving an Associate Degree in Nursing from Southside Virginia Community College.

She was employed as a nurse by Willow Tree Healthcare Center in Charles Town, WVA.

On May 23, 1998, in the Westside United Methodist Church, Clearfield, Christy wed Jeremy States. Together, they raised their son, 2nd Lieutenant Alex States (Rebecca) of San Antonio, TX.

Christy was a member of Westside United Methodist Church.

She was a member of Phi Sigma Sigma Sorority. Christy was known by family and friends for her love of dogs, especially pugs. She enjoyed going for walks, cross stitching, crafts, and decorating her home. Christy was a voracious reader and loved adventures. Her happy place was visiting Ocean City, MD with family and friends.

Christy is survived by her parents, husband, son, her sister, Kelly Smeal (Michael), of Las Vegas, Nevada; four nieces and nephews, Declan Smeal, Hailey, Josh, and Allie States; and her beloved dog, Teddy.

She is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, LeRoy & Jane Smeal and maternal grandparents, Charles and Louise Raymond; several uncles and one cousin, Brock Peters.

Funeral services for Christy will be held on Thursday, February 6 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Brenda Libreatori at Bennett & Houser Funeral Home, Inc., 312 E. Locust St., Clearfield, PA 16830.

Friends will be received at the Bennett & Houser Funeral Home, Inc. on Wednesday, February 5 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and on Thursday, February 6 beginning at 10 a.m. until the time of service.
