Diana Lee English (Confer) passed away peacefully on Monday, July 24, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. Born December 31, 1934, in Clearfield, Pennsylvania, Diana was the first-born daughter to Richard Beaman and (Anna) Pearl Dale Confer.
She enjoyed a life filled with the passion of music, including over 70 years participating in musicals, minstrel shows, choirs, The Clearfield Choral Society, and at one point being asked to sing with a 1950’s well-known Big Band. Her beautiful soprano voice graced many and brought her immense joy. Diana was a voracious reader, often completing three novels in one week.
Although a surprise to her family, she became an avid sports enthusiast who loved the Pittsburgh Pirates, Steelers, and Penn State Football. A life-long member of St. John Lutheran church, she greatly appreciated her church community and volunteered in many roles. She loved her few, but rich travels to various states, towns, and including her dream vacation to Ireland. Diana embraced a hard work ethic and was employed by Clearfield Hospital, Harbison Walker Refineries, and retired from American General Life Insurance. Her greatest pleasures in life were simple; a meal shared with a friend after church, a show at the local CAST theatre, a movie with her daughters, family picnics, and many Fullington bus trip endeavors.
She loved all time spent with her family - her children, grandchildren, sisters, and her kindred life-long friends. Although quiet in nature and small in stature, her will and fortitude in life were large, carrying her through a recent and difficult illness with grace and strength. With few words, but deep conviction, she faithfully cared for and loved her family and friends.
Preceded in death are her parents Richard and Pearl Confer, her brother Gerald (Jerry) Confer, her husband Glenn English, and former husband Herbert Roseberry.
Surviving are her sisters, Elaine Hilleman (Richard) of California, Janet Donahue (Louis) of Curwensville, PA, her son Stephen Roseberry of Wilcox, PA, her daughters: Karen Roseberry of Clearfield, PA, and Christine Roseberry-Belinda (Robert) of State College, PA. Also surviving are grandchildren Megan Roseberry, Stephen Roseberry Jr. (Eliza), Shinee Roseberry (Phillip), Casher Belinda, and Anna Pearl Belinda and great-grand children Robert Enoch Jr., Deangolo and Antonio Roseberry, and Avianna Grace Connole, and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received at the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home, 312 East Locust Street, Clearfield, PA, on Friday, July 28, at 10: 00 AM – 1:00 PM with service immediately following at 1:00PM with Reverend Robert J. Way officiating.
