Diana L. Smith

Mrs. Smith was born April 1, 1935 in Clearfield, the daughter of Milford “Dece” and Alice (McCurdy) Williams.

Diana has been a lifelong resident of Clearfield. Since her marriage to her husband, Marven, in 1955, they had 60 loving years together.

Mrs. Smith was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church where she and Marven were married by the late Rev. E. Roy Houser. She worked at The Bloom Pharmacy prior to her marriage and loved dancing with her husband, being a homemaker and was active in the lives of their three children. Diana, so loved by so many, was not just a wife, mother, aunt, sister and grandmother, but she was the very heart of the family. Her husband Marven could not acknowledge enough about her ongoing support for what he did in the church and the community. She was the rock, the very foundation for everything he did and received very little credit for it, but it was ok with her.

She was a homemaker, and dearly loved her kitchen. During this past year she never let on that she was sick. She would just say “get me to the kitchen” where she could bake her husband’s favorite chocolate chip cookies, something for the church, or for the kids. She was known by many names of love. Marven called her Love, but throughout the family she might be known as Mom, Sissy, Aunt De, Grammy or Meme. Let it be known by all that she may be gone from us, but God has taken her hand to lead our loved ones home. Diana also enjoyed having lunch and conversation with her sister and girlfriends and greatly enjoyed the card club she has been involved with since high school.

Diana is survived by her husband, Marven and their three children; Douglas Lee A. Smith and his wife Maurine of Lancaster, Vickie Jo Smith and her son Andrew of Parsons, WV and Lisa Kay Giacobe and her husband Nicklaus of Bellefonte and their son Stephen and twin girls, Elizabeth and Natalie.

Diana is also survived by her sister, Eleanor Bodle and her husband Ronald of Clearfield, a brother, Kenneth Williams of Philipsburg, brother-in-law, Robert Kennedy of Broomall, sister-in-law, Marie Peters of Curwensville along with many nieces and nephews on both sides of the family that she was very close to.

She was preceded in death by her parents as well as her two sisters; Elsie Mann of Clearfield and Doris Kennedy of Broomall and two brothers; Ronald Williams of Florida and Lee Williams of Clearfield.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at St. John Lutheran Church of Clearfield with Rev. Robert Way officiating. Interment will be in Crown Crest Memorial Park at a time convenient for the family.

Friends will be received at the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home, Inc. of Clearfield on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM and on Wednesday at the church from 10:00 AM until the hour of services at 11:00 AM.
