Donald S. Hartshorne Sr.

Mr. Hartshorne was born March 4, 1926, in Johnstown, the son of Albert E. and Josephine (Beck) Hartshorne.

He retired from American General Insurance after 38 years of service as a manager and auditor.

Mr. Hartshorne was a member of the Mt. Joy United Methodist Church.

He was a member of the Clearfield American Legion John Lewis Shade Post No. 6, the Clearfield B.P.O.E. Lodge No. 540 and the Clearfield S.O.I.

Mr. Hartshorne was a United States Navy Veteran having served during WWII.

He is survived by his wife, Betty B. (Blewitt) Hartshorne whom he married April 29 1950 at the First Christian Church in New Castle, PA, three children; Donald S. Hartshorne, Jr. and his wife Cheryl of West Sunbury, Jeffrey D. Hartshorne and his wife Sally of Shippensburg and Beth H. Helsel and her husband Rick of Clearfield, six grandchildren, four great grandchildren and a sister, Jo Marie Perrine of Monroeville.

Mr. Hartshorne was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Dorothy Roberts.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3:00 PM on Thursday, September 17, 2015 at the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home, Inc. of Clearfield with Rev. Kenneth Leonard officiating. Military Honors will be accorded by the Clearfield Honor Guard. Interment will be at Mt. Joy Cemetery.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Thursday from 2:00 PM until the hour of services.
