

She was born on January 29, 1916, in New York City, NY, the daughter of Percy and Hannah (Thallander) Portchmouth.
Dorothea graduated from Croton Harmon High School and Eastern Secretarial School, New York City, NY.
Mrs. Anderson had worked for various advertising agencies and the Reader’s Digest of New York. She was also a homemaker and enjoyed her family.
She was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church, Clearfield.
Dorothea was a former member of the Clearfield Woman’s Club, Clearfield Hospital Auxiliary, the Coterie Club, AARP and RSVP.
She is survived by four children; June Penta and her husband Gerard of Greensburg, Sonia Shimko and her husband John of Clearfield, William Anderson and his wife Sandy of Allison Park, PA and Richard Anderson and his wife Paula of Rush, NY, seven grandchildren; William Anderson, Amy Wright, Jody Anderson, Robert Anderson, Christine Baylor, Kristen Shimko and Andrew Shimko, six great grandchildren, a sister, Sonia Hurley of Black Mountain, NC, a sister-in-law, Gertrude Sweely of Mahaffey and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dorothea was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Carl L. Anderson whom she married on June 30, 1940 at Our Saviour Lutheran Church, Croton, NY and who passed away on December 4, 1988 and a brother, William Portchmouth.
Funeral Services will be held at St. John Lutheran Church, 217 E. Pine Street, Clearfield, PA 16830 on Monday, March 17, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Robert Way officiating. Interment will be in the Mahaffey Cemetery.
Friends will be received at the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home, Inc., Clearfield on Sunday, March 16, 2014 from 3-6P.M. and at the church on Monday from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of the services.
