Mr. Sloppy was born July 8, 1934 in Glen Richey, the son of Howard and Nora (Nolan) Sloppy.
He was a graduate of Clearfield High School.
Mr. Sloppy had retired from Beckwith Machinery Company as a parts clerk.
He was a member of the Clearfield Alliance Church where he had served as bus director and was also affiliated with the Lake Street United Methodist Church. He had held bible studies at various places and enjoyed the men’s prayer breakfasts. In addition, he was a member of the 66th Operating Engineers Union and had been an assistant coach for Woodland Little League.
Duane is survived by his wife of 68 years, Geraldine R. “Jeri” (Williams) Sloppy whom he married July 16, 1953, two children; Dennis J. Sloppy and his wife Donna of Woodland and Denise F. Turner-Machtel and her husband Jack of Clearfield, five grandchildren; Steven Sloppy (Angi), Jennifer Sloppy, Daniel Sloppy, Shannon Gill (Jason) and Sherry Colton (Mike), ten great grandchildren, two nephews; Harold “Butch” Sloppy and Clifford Sloppy and two nieces; Virginia McKee and Beth Hunt (David).
Mr. Sloppy was the last member of his generation having been preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister, three brothers; Clifford, Harold and Thomas Sloppy and a son-in-law, Tom Turner.
Funeral Services will be held at the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home, Inc. of Clearfield on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at 1:00 PM with Rev. Dr. Duane A. White officiating. Interment will be in Bradford Cemetery.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and on Wednesday from 12:00 PM until the hour of services.
