Mrs. Bertram was born August 9.1934, in Lacey’s Spring, AL, the daughter of the late Henry and Annabelle (Elledge) Starnes.
She was a member of the West Side United Methodist Church of Clearfield. She loved to help others and volunteered with many organizations including the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association and the Girl Scouts of America. She always loved children and also enjoyed serving in the church nursery.
Edna was a loving wife and mother and enjoyed visiting with neighbors. Truly loved by everyone, she always had a contagious smile and was always the first one to say “Hello”. She was very friendly and outgoing and enjoyed meeting new people. She has the unique ability to see the good in everyone. She loved to help others, regardless of what was required. She loved cooking, gardening and all animals, especially dogs.
Mrs. Bertram liked traveling and spending winter months in Marco Island, FL. She liked to take long walks and cherished the outdoors and the wonders of nature. Her greatest pleasure was spending time with her family.
She is survived by her husband, William L. Bertram whom she married on April 21, 1956; three children: Carol A. Elliott and her husband David of Marco Island, FL, Keith L. Bertram and his wife Diana of Wake Forest, NC and Jeffrey A. Bertram and his wife Amy of Fayetteville, PA; five grandchildren: Ashley and Marielle Bertram, Stephen Elliott and Abigail and Logan Bertram. She is also survived by a sister, Peggy Hueter and her husband Uwe; a brother, John H. Starnes and his wife Mary, all of Huntsville, AL; and two nieces and a nephew.
Funeral Services will be held at the West Side United Methodist Church on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Dr. Joleen A. Willis officiating. Interment will be in Crown Crest Memorial Park.
Friends will be received at the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home, Inc. of Clearfield on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8:00 PM.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the West Side United Methodist Church, 317 Nichols St. Clearfield, PA 16830 or charity of the donor’s choice.
