Elaine Greene

Elaine K. (Karchner) Greene, 93, of Nazareth, PA formerly of DuBois , passed away Wednesday, April 03, 2019 at Moravian Hall Square. She was born on December 2, 1925 in Woodland, PA the daughter of the late Richard and Ethel (Shirey) Karchner. On September 8, 1947 she married Wilbert D. “Wib” Greene, who preceded her in death on September 5, 2005. She graduated from Clearfield Hospital School of Nursing in 1947. Retiring in 1986, Elaine worked as the head nurse at Homewood Nursing Home in Martinsburg, PA. She also worked at various doctors’ offices and hospitals. She did volunteer work for the blood bank, taught Sunday school and PTA. Her hobbies included: reading, the outdoors and hiking and spending time with her family. Elaine is survived by her two children: Stephene G. Morgan of Allentown, PA and LaRue G. Suber and her husband Michael of Newark, DE; four grandchildren: Daniele A. Soto (Eliut), Clayton K. Wall, Kellen C. Suber and her fiancé Jeremie Lott, and Colin M. Suber. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Siblings: Richard C. Karchner, Jack S. Karchner and James Karchner and a son-in-law, Delano H. Morgan. A funeral service will be held at 11am on Saturday, April 6, 2019 at the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home, Inc. with Rev. John White officiating. Burial will be at Bradford Cemetery. The family will received friends on Saturday from 10am until the hour of service. Aunt Elaine was certainly a great lady. Just reading all her accomplishments, it is a true testament of why she was so loved by family, friends and so many other people. Stephene and LaRue, you should be so proud. We all loved her and we will truly miss her. Godspeed Aunt Elaine! ~~Denny Karchner

Can't think about my growing up years or young adult years without Elaine being part of it. I have many fond memories of her, she was also a wonderful nursing mentor to me. LaRue and I have already reminisced about some of those memories and they made us both smile.
