

Mr. Adams was born on August 21, 1917 in Clearfield, PA; he was a son of the late William Ellsworth Adams and Elva Mae (Gingery) Adams.
Mr. Adams enlisted in the United States Air Force. He served during WWII where he participated in the Eastern Flying Training. He received his wings in navigating, bombardiering, and gunning. He loved woodworking and carpentry. He was a self-employed contractor. All of his family’s homes have some of Ellery’s talent, love, and hard work.
Mr. Adams was a member of the West Side United Methodist Church, lifetime member of the Hill Top Howlers Snow Mobile Club, member of the Clearfield VFW, and most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. His belief in the strength, unity, and love of family cannot be measured; yet it is apparent daily in his surviving family member’s lives.
Surviving are two daughters: Virginia Mooney and husband Patrick of DuBois, and Judith Adams of Penfield; two sons: Robert Adams and wife Gail of Clearfield, and Jack Adams and wife Carol of Poughkeepsie, NY; five grandchildren: Bridget Mooney and husband David, Jennifer Weniger and husband Fred, Renee Wallace and husband James, Charles Adams and wife Donna, and Elaine Krakower; ten great-grandchildren: Jared, Jemma, Paige, Lauren, Fred, James, Robert, Kara, Troy, and Ava ; two sisters: Helen Freed of Telford, PA, and Mary Beightol and husband Paul of Clearfield.
Mr. Adams was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Avenell V. (Fleming) Adams who passed away on January 3, 2012, and one sister, Margaret Bender; and brother-in-law, Lester Freed of Telford.
Friends will be received at the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home, Inc. on Thursday, July 7th from 4-7pm, and an additional hour of viewing on Friday, July 8th from 10am until the hour of services.
Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Friday, July 8, 2016 at 11am with Rev. John White officiating. Military Honors will be accorded at the funeral home by the Clearfield Honor Guard.
Burial will be in Bradford Cemetery.
The family suggest memorial contributions be made to the Kitchen of Care at the West Side United Methodist Church, 317 Nichols Street, Clearfield, PA 16830 or the DuBois Nursing Home, 212 S. 8th Street, DuBois, PA 15801.
