Eugene F. “Beanie” Conklin, 95, of Woodland, passed away Thursday, December 30, 2021 at his home. He was born August 7, 1926 in Clearfield, the son of Raymond L. and Margaret E. (Wyant) Conklin. Mr. Conklin was a graduate of Clearfield High School. Beanie was a welder and had worked for Johnson Machine Co., and then in 1961 was employed by TAFCO until his retirement in 1988. Mr. Conklin was a member of the Lake Street United Methodist Church, Woodland. He was also a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union, the Odd Fellows since 1944 and the former Woodland Lions Club. He was a United States Army Air Corps Veteran having served during WWII with Squadron O 3505th Army Air Forces Base Unit as a radio operator and mechanic on C47’s and C54’s. He received the American Campaign Medal, Army of Occupation Medal and World War II Victory Medal. Eugene is survived by his two children; Gary E. Conklin of Greenup, KY and Jana M. Conklin of Searcy, AR, five grandchildren; Megan, Kelsey, Jackie, Raymond and Bruce, two great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Maxine E. “Maggie” (Lonjin) Conklin whom he married October 17, 1947 and who passed away March 30, 2012, a sister, Louise Derrick and a brother, Harold Conklin. Funeral Services will be held at the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home, Inc. of Clearfield on Thursday, January 6, 2022 at 1:00 PM with Pastor W. Lee Casher officiating. Military Honors will be accorded at the funeral home by the Clearfield Honor Guard. Interment will be in Bradford Cemetery.
