Gayle M. Wagner, 71, of Clearfield, entered eternal rest on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. Gayle was born October 8, 1947 in Clearfield, a daughter of the late Thomas Andrew (1964) and Inez Agnes (Conaway) McGovern (1982). She wed Paul H. Wagner on November 4, 1972 and who preceded her in death on August 22, 2003. Gayle is survived by two sons; John Andrew Wagner and his wife Loretta and Kenneth Paul Wagner and his wife Jill, all of Clearfield. She is also survived by five grandchildren; Janessa and Jarrit Wagner, Hope Wagner, Luke Godissart and Shawna Williams and two great grandchildren; Ayson Andrew and ElsiLynn Gayle Marie. In addition she is survived by two brothers; Joseph (Connie) McGovern and Alan (Marie) McGovern, all of Frenchville. Gayle graduated from the West Branch High School in 1965 as valedictorian of her class. She then attended the Indiana University of Pennsylvania and majored in art. She was employed as an activities assistant at the Mountain Laurel Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for over 30 years. Upon retirement she continued to volunteer countless hours and remained as president of their Friends of Mountain Laurel. Gayle loved taking care of her family. She adored her grandchildren and the light of her life was her great grandchildren. With her gentle spirit and loving heart, she was a very special person to many friends and family alike. She loved her life, believing “a cloudy day is always followed by sunshine.” Gayle was also an accomplished artist, with one of her many talents being oil paintings. She will always be loved and remembered for her kind and compassionate ways. The family wishes to thank Dr. R. Gogoi and her staff at the Geisinger Medical Center for the excellent care and love they gave her through the years. Funeral Services will be held at the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home, Inc. of Clearfield on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at 8:00 PM with Rev. Robert Way officiating. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6:00 PM until the hour of services. Please accept my sincere sympathy on the loss of Gayle. I was just devastated when I learned she passed away. She was a lovely woman and she adored all of you. I admired her attitude and her determination. She was such a pleasure to spend time with. My heart breaks for you all.

I worked at Mt. Laurel when Gayle worked there, she was a wonderful lady that always had a smile for everyone. Gayle always put so much into her job to make the residents happy. I don't think she thought of it as a job, it was more like she she thought of it as being with family. I never knew anyone that could make a Christmas tree look as beautiful as she could. She will be missed by all that knew her.
