Mr. Jury was born September 1, 1944 in Clearfield, the son of John and Cicely (Yingling) Jury.
He was a natural born Salesman with a big smile and affable personality, which led to successful careers with the Jewel Tea Company and J.T.’s General Store, from which he retired.
A hard working man with a strong work ethic, George was thrilled to have more time for fishing and visiting his family, particularly his daughter and her family, whom he loved so very much.
Retirement also gave him a chance to move from the Albany, NY area, where he spent most of his adult life, back to his hometown of Clearfield. He was delighted to get back to his “roots” and reconnect with his cousins and former classmates from Bald Eagle High School, Class of 1962, where George had been inducted into the Wrestling Hall of Fame in 1998.
George was a U.S. Army Veteran having served during the Vietnam Era.
He was a member of the Clearfield Veterans of Foreign Wars F. Michael Sicks Post No. 1785 and the Clearfield Moose.
George is survived by his daughter, Dawn M. Fowler and her husband Christopher of Latham, NY, two grandchildren; Rachel and Ethan Fowler, a brother, John E. Jury and his wife Renee of Youngstown, OH, a sister, Frances Smith of Wheatland and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Honoring Mr. Jury’s wishes there will be no public visitation or service.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
The Bennett and Houser Funeral Home, Inc. of Clearfield is in charge of the arrangements.
