John F. Peterson

Born on June 30, 1937 in Philipsburg, PA he was the son of William O. and Ruth G. (Reiter) Peterson, who preceded him death.

Mr. Peterson graduated from Morris Twp. High School in 1955. He then attended Lycoming College, graduating in 1959. He furthered his education by attending both Penn State and Clarion Universities and ultimately obtained his Master of Education from Indiana University in 1969.

Throughout his career as a teacher he taught for the following school districts, Clearfield, Moshannon Valley, West Branch, and Glendale. He returned to the Moshannon Valley School District as a 5th grade teacher and taught for 22 years, retiring in 1990.

Mr. Peterson served with the PA National Guard from 1960-1966.

He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Clearfield, where he was also a former Sunday school teacher, a member of the PA State Education Assoc. and the National Education Assoc.

Funeral services were conducted by Pastor T.J. McCabe, followed by the committal services in the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home, Inc. on Thursday, April 14, 2022. Interment followed in the Allport Cemetery, Allport, PA.
