Last year in IST 230, discrete math, I remember meeting you for the first time. The first moment I saw you, I knew you were a technology genius. I loved all of our tech-related conversations and help with programming assignments. You were always willing to help anyone in need. You were always so funny and such a wonderful friend to me as well. When I heard the news that you passed away, I couldn't believe what I was reading. I didn't think it actually happened. Knowing the wonderful man that you were and your service to our country, I wanted to do more than just write a thoughtful message.
As president of IST Club this semester, It was my goal and honor to celebrate the life that you lived. In order to help with the event, I asked CRU to participate. So last Friday, November 30th, I created an event to honor you. We had “Remembrance of Joe Pry Round Robin Rocket League Tournament.” I always knew you loved to play Rocket League so why not honor you that way. Participants were required to donate a minimum of $5 to participate. I purchased snacks, pizza, pop, and set up the monitor outside of the auditorium to play a slideshow of your life. I am currently in the process of having all of the funds donated to the Wounded Warrior Project in honor of you. The event had 15 participants and was able to fundraise $137. Dr. Lomotey even attended as well! I had the love and support of all of Penn State Beaver to make this event happen. The event was a complete success and will hope to live on at the college for future semesters. This was the least I can do to honor such a wonderful friend and man. I am forever grateful for your service to our country.
Every time I am on campus, the thought of you always crosses my mind. Every programming hurdle I ask myself, “How would Joe do this?” The memories of you are continued to be told to future students by our professors. You impacted my life forever and will forever miss you can cherish our friendship. Rest easy my friend. Duces
