Born in LeContes Mills to Richard and Elva (Weimer) Martell on Oct. 17th, 1936, Mary survived Polio as a teenager and became the polio poster child for Clearfield March of Dimes.
Mary fought hard to stay active throughout her life. She loved her family - being a mother and grandmother as well as a caring daughter to her parents. She enjoyed taking neighbors to McDonald’s daily - starting when her grandson worked there, playing bingo and cards, and sharing her home with all her four legged companions throughout her years.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Mary Kay (Rishel)Leidhecker, a sister Ella Jane Fulmer, a close sister-in-law Kay Martell, and son-in-law Mark Owens.
She is survived by her brothers Richard “Jim” Martell, Kenny (and wife, Penny) Martell, her daughter Ruth Ann (Rishel) Owens, her son-in-law Karl "Butch" Leidhecker, grandchildren: Jason Grumblatt, Heather Kovalick, Holly Olson, Lindsay Owens, and Brandon Owens, as well as eight great-grandchildren and one newly-born great-great granddaughter.
