Mr. Legg was born January 8, 1940 in Vincennes, Indiana, the son of Edward W. and Margaret M. (Ritterskamp) Legg.
As a Chief Petty Officer of the Navy, Richard retired from the United States Navy after 22 years as a Radioman, having entered service during the Vietnam Era. Following his military career he then worked for State of the Art in State College, retiring in 1999.
He was a member of the Centre Grove United Methodist Church.
Mr. Legg was an avid golfer and enjoyed traveling.
Richard is survived by his wife of 60 years, Leona I. (Mehaffie) Legg whom he married June 9, 1961 in San Diego, CA, his three children; Richard E. Legg, Jr. of Nashville, TN, Paula A. Queen (George) of Clearfield and Cindy L. Owens (Chad) of Miamisburg, OH, seven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, two brothers; Larry Legg (Mae) and Tom Legg all of Indiana, a daughter-in-law, Mary Legg of Friendswoods, TX and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Edward W. Legg, two sisters; Carol Morris and Martha Lou and four brothers; Ron, Jack, Jim and Kenneth Legg.
Funeral Services will be held at the Centre Grove United Methodist Church on Friday, September 17, 2021 at 12:00 PM with Pastor DeAnn Newhouse officiating. Military Honors will be accorded at the church by the Clearfield Honor Guard. Interment will be in Centre Cemetery.
Friends will be received at the church on Friday from 11:00 AM until the hour of services.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Centre Grove United Methodist Church, 1100 Village Road, Clearfield, PA 16830.
