Born on May 15, 1943, in Johnstown, PA, Bob was a son of the late Anson William and Wilma Margaret (Myers) Bloom. He grew up in Clearfield and graduated from Clearfield Area High School in 1962. After graduating, he moved to Rockland County, New York, where he met the love of his life, Linea (Grahn) Bloom. They were married in 1963 and shared a devoted life together until her passing.
In 1969 Bob and Linea returned to Clearfield to raise their family in the community he always called home. He worked as a Lineman and Safety Officer for Penelec, retiring in 1999.
Bob was a man of many talents and passions: He was an avid hunter, gardener, skilled carpenter, and cook. Whether he was building something with care and precision, tending his garden, or cooking a meal for his family, Bob found joy in the work of his hands—and even greater joy in sharing what he made and grew with others. He was a teacher in the truest sense, always eager to pass his knowledge and wisdom on to his children and grandchildren, whom he cherished deeply.
Bob is survived by his daughter Kimberly Bloom-Snyder (Robert) and son Robert D. Bloom, Jr. (companion, Sue Baney), both of Clearfield; his granddaughters Rachel Luzier (Jeremy) of Osceola Mills and Emma Snyder (Eric Puhl) of Pittsburgh; one great-grandson, Colton Luzier; two brothers James L. Bloom (Carolyn) of Clearfield and Gerald D. Bloom (Kathy) of Kerrmoor; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and beloved wife, Linea, Bob was preceded in death by brother, Anson “Tom” Bloom.
He will be remembered for his quiet strength, generous spirit and unwavering love for his family. His legacy lives on in the lessons he taught and many lives he touched.
In keeping with Bob’s wishes, a private family gathering to honor his life will be held at a later time.
The Bennett & Houser Funeral Home, Inc. will oversee the arrangements. To send online tributes please go to www.bennettandhouser.com
