He was born on March 12, 1925 in Grassflat, PA, the son of Fred and Virginia (Shubert) Veihdeffer.
Mr. Veihdeffer at one time had been employed by the former Clearfield Public Market and had been a barber at Veihdeffers’ Barber Shop. He retired from the Department of Public Welfare as an income maintenance worker and co-assistance officer.
He was a member of the St. Timothy’s Catholic Church of Curwensville.
Mr. Veihdeffer was a member of the United Commercial Travelers’ of Philipsburg, Clearfield American Legion Post #6 and was a lifetime member of the Hyde Fire Company.
He was a veteran of the United State Navy having served during WW II in the Pacific.
Mr. Veihdeffer is survived by his wife Donna M. (McCormick) Veihdeffer whom he married October 12, 1973, a son, Robert D. Veihdeffer and his wife Donna E. of Curwensville, two step-daughters; Mrs. Sharon Thorn and her husband William Thomas and Deborah Carter, all of Pittsburgh, and three grandchildren; Caleb Thorn, Hannah Thorn and Kelli (Veihdeffer) Norman and her husband Kyle.
He was the last member of his generation having been preceded in death by his parents, six brothers; Leonard, Charles, Kenneth, James, Howard and Regis “Bucky” Veihdeffer and two sisters; Elizabeth Haversack and Katherine Hertzog.
Honoring Mr. Veihdeffer’s wishes there will be no public viewing or visitation. Interment will be in Crown Crest Memorial Park.
A Celebration of Life Service will be announced at a later date.
