I am sorry for your loss. I did not know Sam very well, I met him through my wife as he was a very special man to her. When I first met him, he made a very big impact upon my life. He was a great man. We talked Nascar for an hour straight, how we both enjoyed the sport as well as talked about other sports and life. Sam was a very kind hearted man, and I could tell as he embraced a complete stranger and befriended me as he and my wife knew each other very very well. Sam was very important to me from that moment on. I wish we could have spent more time with him. Words cannot express enough how deeply saddened I am by his passing. The promises I made to Sam I will never forget them as it feels like it was just yesterday I made those specific promises. Sam I know you are looking down and I will continue stay true to those promises my friend. You mean so much to not only myself but so much to my wife. I know you are watching down and smiling, I can picture you up there with Dale Earnhardt and talking about racing. It was an honor meeting you and an honor to be there to celebrate your life. Fly high Sam, you will never be forgotten. I am glad I had the chance to meet you. Until we meet again. <3

I am so very sorry for your loss Ida but Sam had been losing the fight for sometime. It was so nice looking at all the pictures of him over the years and I remember how your mom would always talk about him at church and request prayer. Well he is now back in her arms and I’m sure she is smiling ear to ear. May all the good memories stay with you and you were a very good mother to him and he loved you.
