Highlands DuBois Hospital.
He was born November 1, 1938, in Clearfield, PA, one of five children to Edmund and
Josephine (Shamp) Kennedy.
Tom spent his career as a computer engineer with Unisys Corporation, from 1968 until he
retired in 2000 — spending many of those years as the site manager at the Pennsylvania State
Police Headquarters in Harrisburg.
He was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and boating in his earlier
years. Tom loved living on the “farm” — tending to his garden in the summers, sunflowers in
the early fall, and caring for his many chickens and cats. One of his favorite pastimes in recent
years was to sit on his porch swing or in the sunshine in front of his pole barn and watch the
squirrels and birds fight over the corn cobs and birdseed he hung for them.
In addition to his love of nature and animals, he was very social and enjoyed making people
laugh. He was generous with his time and talents, and gave away a lot of the produce he grew
and woodworking items he made for others to benefit from.
Tom is survived by four children, Kirk D. Kennedy and his wife, Judy, of Curwensville; Melony
G. Maines of Clearfield; Thomas A. Kennedy, Jr., and his wife, Sara, of East Sandwich, MA;
Colleen R. Kennedy of Harrisburg; five grandchildren, Nicole Kennedy, Brandi (Kennedy)
Michaels, Danielle (Maines) Zurin, Nicholas Kennedy, and Molly Kennedy; two brothers,
Edmund Kennedy and his wife, Rita, of Williamsport; Ronald Kennedy and his wife, Louise, of
Clearfield, several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Edmund and Josephine (Shamp) Kennedy; wife, Joyce (Uncles) Kennedy; his sister, Kathy Stover; and a brother, Michael Kennedy.
A memorial service to be planned by the family will be held sometime next year.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home, Inc.
