He was born on September 6, 1934 in Kerrmoor, he was the son of the late Howard and Vivian (Remaley) Michaels`.
Jim was a 1953 graduate of Curwensville Area High School. Jim was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and U.S. Army. He also was a life time member of the Glen Richey Fire Co., Curwensville VFW, Eagle’s Ridge Golf Course and the Curwensville American Legion.
He retired from Major Smith Foods of New Holland, PA in April 1997. He was previously employed by Clearfield Cheese Co., Lezzer Lumber, International Paper and Union Carbide, Niagara Falls, NY.
Jim is survived by his wife, Lona (Borst) Michaels whom he married on September 26, 1958, at the New Millport Methodist Parsonage, two sons; James A. and his wife Joy of Curwensville, Bryan of Glen Richey and a daughter, Kristi Heichel and her husband, Brad of Smoke Run, five grandchildren; Patrick, Philip, Eric and Rachel Michaels and Jordan Heichel, two great grandchildren; Owen and Maci Michaels of Curwensville, four brothers; Wallace and his wife Gaye of West Seneca, NY, Robert and his wife Beverly of Glen Richey, Dorce and his wife Carole of Curwensville, Gary and his wife Janet of Hepburnia and two sisters; Betty Test and her husband Duane of Curwensville and Sally Barrett and her husband, Alvin of Clearfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Jack Michaels in 2005.
Honoring Mr. Michaels’ wishes there will be no public visitation.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. at the Glen Richey Fire Hall, 86 Firehouse Road, Glen Richey,Pa with Rev. George W. Solley officiating..
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Glen Richey Fire Co., 86 Firehouse Road, Glen Richey, PA 16837, Clearfield Hospice-Circle of Friends, P.O. Box 992, Clearfield, PA 16830 or a charity of the donor’s choice.
