My sincere condolences for the entire family. 
When I was a student at LEHS I had the privilege of being a hall monitor under Mr.T. He was a really "tough cookie" but a fair guy to all.

Mr. Tagney was my Vice Principal at LEHS, I was a class clown who was sent to his office on close to a daily basis, on occasion twice a day. Detentions were endless...

I’ll just say I was a loser and Mr. Tagney gave me the opportunity to turn my life around. We did keep in touch throughout the years. He let me know he was proud of my accomplishments, in return I am so proud to have had him as a friend. 

Rest In Peace Mr. Tagney.

I was very sad to hear of Al’s passing . He was a good friend of mine and was good to me and my family.  Our condolences to his family.

My condolences to the family.  I remember Mr. Tagney at LEHS, class of 76.  He was a fair person dedicated  to his work and to the school.  Everyday he wore a three piece suit and walked the school halls interested in knowing what was going on.  They do not make school administrators like this anymore.  May his memory be a blessing. I was a student of Mr. Tagney's at LEHS.  I always loved history, and actually served as president of my local Historica Society.

Mr. Tagney was a great teacher. Always fair and giving. One of the teachers I remember well. God bless.

I remember Mr. Tagney well.  He was a genuinely good man.  I especially remember him being fair minded, wise and good hearted.

I  admired Mr. Tagney, as a man, a basketball coach and a teacher.  I never missed a game, home or away.  His teams were remarkably successful; even when they lost, he was never out-coached.

Here’s to Mr Tagney and those like him, There are very few left.

Mr. Tagney believed in me more than I believed in myself. He encouraged me to pump up my grades junior year so I could go to college. His interest in me was met with skepticism but I have always harbored appreciation for his firm, snarky but loving tactics. 

My condolences to his family and loved ones. 

Mr. Tagney was one of the most influential people for me at LEHS!
When my guidance counselor discouraged me from applying to College he helped me process my application. I even received early acceptance due to his recommendation . When I graduated with Honors I brought him my award and thanked him.
Thank you again Mr. Tagney, you were amazing  and made the world a better place!!!


I was in the class of 1974 and one of my extra curricular activities was to help in Mr Tagny’s office. He was gruff on the outside but sweet on the inside. I remember one day I was wearing red lipstick and he looked at me and said” dont wear that bright lipstick. It takes away from your eyes”. I was taken aback but appreciated the fact he cared enough to be honest with his opinion. 
He was a very special educator and man. 

First my deepest prayers and condolences to the family.
I always had the highest regard and respect for Mr. Tagney as both a coach and a Vice Principal.  Knowing several of the "refs" that oversaw many of his games, they too spoke highly of him as both a coach and a "man."

From my student prospective, he was "TOUGH", but he was always FAIR at at least to me, and he always listened to what you had to say.  Not that you'd be spared detention! LOL

His ilk is dearly needed today and we are all diminished by the lose.

I was a 1971 graduate of LEHS. For three years I served as a hall monitor and worked closely with Mr. T making calls to the homes of my fellow classmates who were absent from school on a given day. He was a taskmaster to be sure and could be very gruff but was never unduly cruel. RIP Mr Tagney ( and BTW, I NEVER ratted out anyone.) 

My deepest sympathies to the Tagney family! I remember Mr. Tagney very well as a LEHS Alum from class of 1972.

My  Dad was a teacher at Lynn English High School and also at home. Suppertime always involved a discussion about the topic of the day or some controversial issue. I had many lukewarm meals as I tried to  argue my point (he ALWAYS took the opposite stance to challenge my assumptions).  

My Dad was a basketball coach. He taught me how to keep score at a very young age. He always checked with me to "make sure the REAL adult score keeper had 'done it right' ." 

My Dad was the Vice Principal of Lynn English when I  entered high school. In that role he was not popular with any student who had to pay him a visit for disciplinary reasons . . .  and I sometimes was the target of their displeasure.

My Dad loved dogs, especially our German Shepherd, Katrina. He once demonstrated that love by carrying Katrina and her 120 pounds, down Mt. Sunapee after an encounter with a porcupine. They both cried all the way down.

My Dad was an avid golfer. One year a Christmas morning call from Florida did not involve a holiday greeting . . . it involved the realization of his life-long dream. A HOLE-IN-ONE.

This was the man behind a gruff exterior that concealed a tender heart and a generous spirit. If you didn't like him, you probably didn't know him.

My Dad taught me many lessons in life. My favorites: "your actions speak louder than your words"; "never build yourself up by pulling someone else down"; "if you have integrity, nothing else matters; if you don't have integrity, nothing else matters."
