Al was a 1948 graduate of Lynn English High School. He went on to study at Tufts University and earned a bachelor's and master's degree from Salem State College. He enjoyed a long career at his high school alma mater. His passion for history led him into the classroom. He had a gift for teaching, challenging students to think critically, evaluate facts, debate and always question the accepted norm. His teaching skills extended beyond the classroom and onto the basketball court as a successful head coach. Al continued his tenure at English High as vice principal and eventually principal. After a lifetime of service and dedication he was inducted into the English High Hall of Fame in 1996.
Al and his wife Lucille, a reading specialist at LEHS, retired in 1990 and settled at Cedar Hammock Country club in Naples. He enjoyed a variety of interests which included reading, travel, photography, and of course, golf.
