Our beloved mother, Amor M. Domingo, passed away at the age of 92 on July 20, 2023, in Dunedin, Florida. She was born on June 5, 1931 in Malabon, Rizal, Philippines. The first of five children and a devout Catholic. She grew up in the Philippines with her family living through the Japanese occupation in World War II. Her father was a math teacher and established a statistical analysis business, and her mother was a school teacher. Mom was an avid reader, a skilled pianist and a lover of the arts- visual arts, classical music and opera. She was happily married to her husband, Francisco, for 62 years until he preceded her in death.
Amor is survived by her children, son Jose, his wife Lisa, children Brandy, Amanda, Chelsea, son Francisco, his wife Dorothy, children Molly and Maggie, daughter Evangeline, child Benjamin, son Patrick, his wife Cindy, children Darian and Christian, her sister Danila, her nephew Mark and nieces Justine and Andrea.
She leaves a legacy that placed high importance on higher education and a strong work ethic. Travel was always a part of her life's education, and she would take advantage of the opportunities as they came up, living in Okinawa, Japan, Tehran, Iran, Kandahar, Afghanistan, Madrid, Spain before emigrating to the United States to live in New York, New Jersey, and Florida. A hard worker, she held a variety of jobs as a planning research assistant, retail worker, bank teller, travel agent, travel agency owner and researcher for Nielsen Research Group. She worked in these jobs while raising the kids to thrive in school with all graduating from college. Keeping her body and mind active were practices that she would keep throughout her life. Mom was active in the Church throughout her life. She volunteered for the Catholic Women's Council and acted as the Treasurer for the building fund Our Lady of Lourdes Church. Her other volunteer work supported the Dunedin Library and the Dunedin Arts Center.
One of mom's greatest joys was her grandchildren- Molly, Maggie, Ben, Darian and Christian. She would help raise Ben. She loved that Ben learned to play the piano and that Maggie danced professionally. All of her grandchildren would do well in school, but most importantly, they would be good and decent people. Throughout her life she put her family first, worked hard and lived within the teachings of her Church. Her actions spoke volumes in the love she gave to this world. We will miss her dearly and will never forget her.
A visitation for Amor will be held Friday, August 18, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 2853 SUNSET POINT RD, CLEARWATER, FL 33759.
