

Arleen A. Larson, age 94, of Dunedin, Florida, died peacefully on December 15 under Hospice Care at the home of her son and daughter-in-law in Flat Rock, NC. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roland, of 71 years, her parents, George and Anna Sorensen, her sisters, Vivian Keating and Jeannette Havick, and brother, Chris Sorensen. She is survived by her son, Dennis (Diana) Larson of Flat Rock, NC, two granddaughters, Dawn M. Scott of Palm Harbor and Debbie R. (Chris) Smith of Dunedin, a great granddaughter, Allison Smith, and many nieces and nephews. She was born in Jacksonville, Iowa on October 24, 1922, met and married Roland in 1941, and farmed there until moving to Florida in 1957. Arleen and Roland operated several mobile home parks and they also loved to travel. They belonged to the Century 2000 Flying Club and visited every continent except Antarctica. Arleen was a DeMolay volunteer mom and especially enjoyed art projects and crafts with her granddaughters. Alzheimers and a series of strokes finally ended her life. Her family and friends will miss her beautiful smiling face and positive attitude. Her granddaughters will always love her truly and treasure the memories of singing all of her special songs with her while holding her “kind hand.” In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org
