He proudly served in the US Navy on the #709 Destroyer and married Eleanor Rose Bartke in May, 1957 and they lived in New Jersey before retiring to Florida in 1981.
His wife Eleanor passed away in 2002 and he is survived by his wife, Robin Bortolus (Banker), his sister Vicki Bartke and his four children, Gina Gavornik (Rick), Diana Capo (Tony), Lisa Graham (Dave) and Joe Bortolus and Stepson Deron Foster(Helana). He was also blessed with grandchildren Anthony (Ashlee), Jackie (Craig), Matt, Adam, Stacy(Paul), Katie, Jessica, Megan, Tim, Bonnie and Joey as well as great grandchildren Mathew, Ali, Anthony, Luke, Veronica, Grace, Grant, Connor, Lily and Ben.
Rudy was the owner/operator of Bortolus Terrazzo and Tile Company in NJ for 30 years before semi-retiring to Florida and was a security guard for the next 30 years.
Rudy loved God, His Family and His Country. He was also a huge fan of the New York Yankees and loved spending time at the beach. He had an effervescent personality and he always left people smiling. He never met a stranger and always left a positive impression on people.
He was a man of deep faith, a prayer warrior, and the pride and joy of his life were his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
His energy and zest for life will be deeply missed.
Rudy did not want a formal service. He would want you to remember him smiling and wearing his US Veteran baseball cap.
