In Memory of Barbara Jean Mumma April 24, 1933 - January 9, 2015 Barbara Jean Mumma, 81, entered into the presence of her Savior on January 9, 2015 at Suncoast Hospice Care Center in Pinellas Park, Florida. She was born in Cambridge, Ohio to Norman E. Donahue and Ethel Loritsch Donahue and was one of nine children. She loved to play the clarinet and won several state competitions during high school and participated in the orchestra while in college. While working on her BA in Education at Muskingum College, she met her husband, Gene, during one of his leaves from the Navy. They continued to write while he was away and a romance blossomed. After their marriage, Barbara served as a teacher in both Ohio and Florida. Dedicated to fostering the success of the students under her care, she often went well outside what was expected to meet the needs of any child who was struggling. At the joy of becoming a mother, she chose to leave a profession she loved to focus all her efforts on raising her children up in a nurturing, loving environment so they could reach their full potential. She continued that legacy with her grandchildren, helping in their care whenever needed. She was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings: Russell, Robert, Edward, Bernice, Vera, Marguerite, Helen and Janice. She is survived by her loving husband, Gene of Largo, FL, her daughter, Jodelle of Oldsmar, Florida, son, David of St. Petersburg, Florida, and grandchildren, Garin, Colin, John, Caleb and Daniel. There will be a graveside service for friends and family at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park in the Garden of Psalms, 2853 Sunset Point Road, Clearwater, FL 33759 at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 15th.
