

Born on September 18, 1940, in Loiza, Puerto Rico, Benjamin lived a life full of music, laughter, and love. He was a gifted musician, renowned for his mastery of percussion instruments—particularly the bongos and congas. His talent led him to perform as a guest with the legendary Tito Puente, a highlight in a life deeply devoted to rhythm and artistry.
Benjamin married the love of his life, Maria Rodriguez, with whom he shared over 60 beautiful years of marriage. Together, they had a beautiful family of five beloved children: Ticieda McCrary, Lynette Matias, Marilyn Rodriguez, Benjamin Rodriguez, Jose Antonio Rodriguez, and Milagros Rodriguez.
Beyond his musical talents, Benjamin found joy in the simple pleasures of life—playing dominos, sharing stories, and most of all, spending quality time with his family. he was a member of the church band and Choir at Blessed Trinity Church in Ocala. He was known for his warm, kind spirit and his unmistakable, infectious laugh—fondly remembered by many as his signature "boohoohaha."
Benjamin’s presence brought joy to all who knew him, and his memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends forever.
He is preceded in death by his parents Miguel Rodriguez and Adriana Lacen, his two children Ticieda McCrary and Jose Anotnio Rodriguez.
His legacy lives on through his loving wife Maria Rodriguez, his children Lynette Matias, Marilyn Rodriguez, Benjamin (Melody) Rodriguez, Jose Antonio Rodriguez, and Milagros (Norma Roman) Rodriguez, his twenty-three grandchildren, twenty-eight great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, and many other cherished relatives.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday May 21, 2025 at 11:00am at Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home with a funeral service to start at 1:00pm and a graveside service at Calvary Catholic Cemetery at 2:30pm to follow.
