Betty Fisher, beloved mother, grandmother, friend, and respected real estate professional, passed away surrounded by the love of family and friends. She was born on February 5, 1943, in Ashland, Kentucky, to Virginia O'Mara. She was raised by her mother and grandparents Hattie and Mitchell Maynard whom she adored. Virginia married Brian O'Mara and had two more children, Tim and Jennifer. Betty spent her early years in Kentucky before moving to Springfield, Missouri, at the age of 12. She attended and graduated from Parkview High School in Springfield in 1960.
Betty began her career as a pharmacy technician in St. Louis during the 1960s. Her ambition, work ethic, and passion for helping others eventually led her into the real estate industry after moving to Springfield, Illinois. She later settled in Naperville, Illinois, where she built an extraordinary career in real estate, serving as a relocation director, corporate trainer, managing broker, and mentor to countless professionals. Her final position was as Managing Broker with Baird & Warner Real Estate. Through her leadership, dedication, and professionalism, Betty became widely respected throughout the industry and her community.
Betty shared a remarkable love story with her husband, Hugh Fisher. Their marriage was filled with joy, laughter, kindness, and unwavering devotion. They were the kind of couple who would dance in the living room simply because a favorite song came on. Their love was the kind celebrated in movies—a true "Notebook" love story. They held hands, shared kisses, and cherished one another every day until Hugh's passing on September 9, 2025.
Known for her vibrant spirit, Betty had an incredible gift for bringing happiness to those around her. She loved life, laughter, and making others feel welcome. Family was always at the center of her world, and nothing brought her greater joy than being a grandmother.
Betty treasured her grandchildren, Kylie and Braden, who were blessed to spend countless special moments with their grandparents in Tampa. Just six months after Kylie was born, Betty and Hugh purchased their home there so they could enjoy watching their grandchildren grow and create lasting memories together. Those years spent sharing everyday moments, celebrations, and family traditions became some of the most treasured chapters of her life.
Betty also shared a special bond with her daughter, speaking with her every day. Their conversations were a constant source of love, support, and friendship.
She loved holidays, family gatherings, and cooking for the people she loved. Betty enjoyed golfing, biking, and staying active, always embracing life with enthusiasm. She carried herself with grace and elegance, and she was known as a classy lady who always looked beautiful.
More than any accomplishment, Betty will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, warmth, and the joy she brought to others. Her legacy lives on through the family she adored, the friends whose lives she touched, and the countless people who were fortunate enough to know her.
She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
