Betty Kerekes

Betty Jane (Wehinger) Kerekes, passed away March 11th at the Villas of Belleair. She was the daughter of Angela and John Wehinger. Born July 4, 1920 in Cincinnati, OH she graduated from Western Hills High School. During WW II she joined the Women’s Army Corps where she attained the rank of Master SGT as a medical technician. In the early 50’s Betty was employed as a secretary to the General Manager of the Snow Crop Corp. in Dunedin. At this time she met and married Charles. They have been blessed with three sons, Steven, Joseph, and James. Steven died at the age of six as a result of a bicycle – car accident. Betty served as secretary/bookkeeper at St. Cecelia Catholic School where she coordinated the financing and construction of the school gymnasium. Betty was preceded in death by her sister Margie and son Steven. She is survived by her husband Charles; sons Joseph (Kandi), James (Laurie); brother John Wehinger; grandsons Grant, Andrew, Alex, Matthew; many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. Family will receive friends Thursday 6 – 8 at the funeral home. The funeral mass will be Friday 10:30 at St. Cecelia Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Suncoast Hospice.
