Bonnie Jean Keck (née Nicholson), age 89, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2025, in Pinellas Park, Florida. Born on March 6, 1936, in Elmhurst, Illinois, Bonnie lived a full and vibrant life marked by devotion to her family, a generous spirit, and a love for community and celebration.
A proud graduate of Glenbard West High School in Glen Ellyn, Illinois, Bonnie carried the values of hard work and kindness with her throughout her life. Her greatest joy was raising her children—a role she embraced with unwavering love and dedication. In addition to being a devoted mother, Bonnie shared her talents as a baton twirling teacher, inspiring young students with her energy and enthusiasm. Later in life, she found fulfilment working in the service industries, where she touched many lives through her helpful nature and warm presence.
Bonnie's family was the heart of her world. She is lovingly remembered by her children: David (late Deborah), Darlene her daughter and best friend-Danny (Jen), and Dustin (Megan). She also leaves behind nine cherished grandchildren: Jason Smith, Sean Smith, Josh Smith, Derek Mosley, Chantel Keck, Chad Keck, Cheyenne Keck, Hunter Keck, and Cody Keck; as well as eight great-grandchildren: Dominic Smith, Dallas Mosley, Ezekiel Mosley, Jada Keck, Sophia Keck, Justin Keck, Dakota Keck and Aiden Pendley. Her beloved cat companion of sixteen years, Boots, was always by her side.
She was preceded in death by many dear family members who held special places in her heart: her grandmother Olive Richter; parents Leila Nicholson and George A. Nicholson; siblings Phyllis Santschi, George A. Nicholson Jr., and Eileen Haley; former husband Glenn Keck; daughter-in-love Deborah Keck; and Joe Zurla-the love of her life.
Bonnie had a zest for life that shone through in everything she did. She loved working puzzles and puzzle books that kept her mind sharp and engaged. She enjoyed attending events at the community center with friends who brought laughter into her days. Bingo nights were a favorite pastime as were trips to the casino where she delighted in the thrill of chance.
A talented cook and baker during the years she raised her children, Bonnie found joy in hosting parties and feeding those around her. Her home was often filled with the comforting aromas of homemade meals and baked treats-always served with love. She also had a passion for line dancing and country music that brought rhythm to her days and joy to those who danced alongside her.
Bonnie's warmth extended beyond family to include many nieces, nephews, and very good friends whose lives were enriched by knowing her. Her legacy is one of love shared freely-with family gathered around the table or friends laughing over bingo cards-and of strength shown quietly through years of care for others.
May Bonnie Jean Keck's memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her.
