Bruce Charles Kolek Jr.

Bruce Kolek Jr. of St. Petersburg, Florida passed away on April 3, 2015 at the age of 20, after losing his brave battle with cancer. Bruce will be remembered by his family and friends for his amazing sense of humor, hope, courage and strength in the face of the many medical complications he experienced throughout his life. Bruce left an indelible imprint on the lives of those who were blessed to know him. Bruce was a student at St. Petersburg College, taking classes to become a Math Teacher when he was diagnosed with cancer. Bruce was born in St. Petersburg on September 26, 1994 and was a beloved son, grandson, brother, stepbrother, nephew and cousin to his large loving family. He is survived by his father, Bruce Kolek Sr., his stepmother, Judi Kolek, his mother Julie Morningstar, his stepfather Dave Morningstar, his brother, Connor Moran, two stepsisters, Cierra Chin and Emma Morningstar, grandparents, Richard and Celeste Bonnell, Anthony and Alice Kolek and Deanna Merriman, as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Twice a heart transplant recipient, Bruce wanted to give back and was able to donate his corneas. In lieu of flowers, we are asking that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association or Boggy Creek Children’s camp. Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
